Creating the Right Conditions for High-Performing Teams
The challenge
Southern Grampians Shire Council wanted to strengthen leadership across the organisation and move beyond traditional, hierarchical ways of working. The goal was not just better leadership development in isolation, but a more aligned, collaborative and high-performing culture overall.
What was needed
To create that shift, the organisation needed more than a program. It needed a shared foundation, clearer expectations and practical support for leaders at different levels. That included stronger alignment around vision, purpose and values, along with the leadership capability to build trust, improve decision-making and lead teams more effectively.
Our approach
We partnered with Southern Grampians Shire Council to create the conditions for stronger performance across the organisation.
The work began with the co-creation of a shared vision, purpose and values, helping build clarity and alignment around what mattered most.
From there, we designed and delivered tailored development programs for both senior leaders and people leaders. Through workshops, coaching and group accountability, leaders built practical capability in trust, collaboration, accountability, courageous conversations, decision-making and leading change.
As the work evolved, we also supported the development of leadership principles to help leaders align around what strong leadership looks like in practice.
The impact
This work helped create stronger alignment across the organisation and a more consistent leadership culture. Leaders were better equipped to work collaboratively, lead with greater clarity and build teams grounded in trust and accountability.
Over time, the work created a ripple effect beyond individual leaders, helping embed the behaviours and expectations that high-performing teams depend on.
Why it matters
High-performing teams do not happen by accident. They are built through clear direction, shared expectations, strong leadership and cultures where people can trust one another and do their best work.
That is what this work helped create.
